[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] clock battery backup

rnelson@eecs.wsu.edu (Roger Nelson - Grad Student) (04/10/91)

---------

Simple question:

The "Introducing the Amiga" mentions the battery backup for
the clock, but doesn't say where it is (how to install or
	replace the batteries).

I don't have any battery pack in my 2000 (Rev 4.2).
Does the 2000 use the standard 4 AA size battery packs?
Where is the battery pack plugged in?
	What type batteries are recommended.

	Thanks

Roger, The battery is about the size of a Certs in diameter and perhaps
about 5/8" long laying with the flats vertical. If I remember right,
the battery is located towards the front, a little to the left of
center. I also think all 2000's have a battery backup. Once you set
the clock using the date command, you use 'setclock opt save'. Your
startup sequence should have 'setclock opt load' in it. Hope this helps.
By the way, the battery is soldered in, unless you're handy with this
kind of thing, you'll need a service center to replace it.
