I am trying to figure out how to get 1meg of chipmem on an amiga 500 /w a fatter agnus. I called the local amiga repair center and they said that I should cut traces on the motherboard to allow the A501 memory expansion to be added as chipmemory. Is there any other way? Is there room on the motherboard for more memory? If I must cut traces which ones (or where do I find the info)? Also has anyone noticed that area fills into a non-rectangular polygon is slower on the A500 than on the A1000? I have been playing "Ghengis Khan" and "Romance of the three kingdoms" (both by KOEI) seem to run much slower on my A500/A501 than my brothers A1000/insiderII. Why? Can I get mine to run faster? Thanks in advance Mike Boyce mikeb@maid.tv.tek.com

I'd reckon it's because your game runs in chip-ram timing memory, that is, a501's memory is timed exactly like chip memory, even if the custom chips can't get to it; on the other hand, on your brothers computer the game runs on the insiders memory, which is fast ram. > Thanks in advance your welcome :) > Mike Boyce > mikeb@maid.tv.tek.com Gustavo Cordova al158305@mtecv2.mty.itesm.mx -- | Gustavo Cordova Avila | al158305@mtecv2.mty.itesm.mx | | Electronic Systems Engineering | PL158305@tecmtyvm.bitnet | +--------------------------------+------------------------------------+

Can I get mine to run faster? Yes, you can get them to run faster. The easiest and fastest way is to buy a 50mhz accelerator board. I think that the A1000 runs faster because it is reading Kickstart calls from ram instead of rom. It makes sense to me... > > Thanks in advance > Mike Boyce > mikeb@maid.tv.tek.com -- David Tiberio SUNY Stony Brook 2-3481 AMIGA DDD-MEN Tomas Arce Any students from SUNY Oswego?
