[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] 16bit-VGA with A2088 ?

That leads me to another question: I have an A2088-Card and a multisync :
can I use a 16bit-VGA-Card (since the 16bit-slot is already there), or am
I restricted to 8bit-Cards due to using a 8-bit "PC" ?

Thanks in advance,

No, if you have an A2088, you can only use 8-bit cards, the other 8 bits
are simply not connected from the CPU.

BUT: Many 16-bit cards allow *also* operation in 8-bit mode. You can
jumper (or otherwise configure) them for this.

Maybe a stupid question, But is this also the case for the A2286 Board.?
I don't expect it to be, but i am just asking..........

No, the A2286 board is truely 16 bit, you can use a 16-bit VGA.
But try to check it before you buy, not every brand works with the A2286!
A colleague has a VGA with a Paradise chipset working.

some VGA cards have a 16 bit connector, but can be jumpered for 8 bit slot
operation. some even automatically detect what size slot they're in. an
example is the logix VGA2000, which i recently checked for compatibility.
i think it's based on the trident chipset, so anything using them has a
chance of working.
