When I have a Syquest drive attached to the external SCSI port of an A3000, the 3000 refuses to boot. On powerup, it just sits there with no apparent activity; on warm reset, the internal drive light and the Syquest drive light pulse in unison but no boot occurs. If I power off the Syquest, the Amiga boots. If I then power up the Syquest, I can run the HDtoolbox and it finds the Syqest on the SCSI buss. If I then run the A-Max Mac emulator and run a SCSI probe from there, it what it thinks is the Mac CPU at address 7, the Amiga's internal Quantum at address 6 (where it's supposed to be) but not the Syquest (set to SCSI address 3). The probe also claims that the SCSI buss is not terminated, though I do have a terminator on the Syquest passthrough. These two symptoms, the refusal of the Amiga to boot with the Syquest powered up, and the inability for the Mac emulation to see the Syquest seem to point to one, perhaps solvable, problem -- maybe related to termination. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I might be missing? --geoff (e-mail answers appreciated -- our News feed has been erratic of late)
