I'm planning on getting my a1000 a hard disk controller some time in the future (not so far I hope :), and wanted to ask people who already own some controllers the following: * Is the xetec scsi controller dma? In case that it should be, will it work with my machine if I use it with a lucas/frances board? The board isn't supposed to support dma, so... what happens? I also heard that it may drink-up cpu cycles big-time, how true is it? On the other hand, I like it because it's scsi, and it can accept memory expansion which can be usefull in case I needed to disable lucas for something. * AdIDE. This one is... hmmm.. cute? :) But, will it be compatible with lucas? And, I heard that it eats up the cpu when transferring, that may cause errors during modem comunications... how true's that? * Adding an a500 gvp sII controller. It's very nice, but is it dma? Can dma be disabled to do the transfers using the cpu? * Adding an a2000 mem/scsi card. I like the AdSCSI card, but I also heard that it eats up cpu cycles like candy. How about the gvp s.II +8? Does it dma? I *think* that it only dma's to onboard memory, not anywhere else, how true's that? * Has anybody tried the scsi interfaces from Pre'spect Tech? (the makers of ALF). Inquiring minds want to know...
