Patwardhan" <lcc.niket@locus.ucla.edu> One other comment on the color method of determining speed.... even when there is no radial velocity, only tangential velocity, you still get a red shift due to the time dilation effect! Thus without a knowledge of the direction, you cant even tell the speed!
