[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Use of IBM AT power supplies for Amigas.

jrobbins@ohstpy.mps.ohio-state.edu (04/23/91)

I just thought that I might warn others to not fall into the trap I found.

IBM AT power supplies do not provide the 60Hz TICK signal needed for the
A1000 to boot. As I understand the A500 and A2000 have ways of working
arround this. I was transfering my A1000 into a baby AT case for more
headroom (I had an Insider RAM expansion board, a Kwickstart board, and
was adding an AdIDE controller) and ran into this problem. I got around
it by building an optoisolated TICK generator off of the AC line but
others who do not have the technical skills may run into trouble. Be warned!
