For all of you who have an A3000 with a bridgeboard and would kill for another AT slot, you're in luck. Before I go on, however, let me state that if you blow up yourself, or your A3000, I accept no responsibility. Also, I've only done this for an XT slot, but it should work equally well to create an AT slot. BTW, in case you're concerned, you can do this procedure without modifying your A3000. The basic idea is to run a ribbon cable down from the lowest AT connector and hang another AT connector from it in the empty space in the lowest Amiga slot. To do this, you'll need two AT-style card edge connectors, an AT card edge, and 1" of ribbon cable. I got the parts for mine from a dead PC motherboard and a dead parallel card (for my XT card edge). Make sure that you use a card edge that has nice solder pads. Hack off the edge of your dead AT card and file it smooth so that you have about 1/16" of card left next to your solder pads. Bend the leads of one AT connector inward and insert your card edge between the two rows of leads so leads touch the appropriate solder pads and solder them in place. Solder about 1" of ribbon cable onto the leads of the AT connector that you just attached to the card edge, and solder the other end onto the second AT connector so that they are in parallel. You'll probably want to spread the leads of the second AT connector so that it takes up less room. Insulate the back of second AT connector, and plug the card edge into your lowest AT slot, and voila! This hack takes up about 7/8" of space of your lowest AT slot, but you should still be able to plug a board into it and get the cover back on. The hanging AT connector sticks out about 1/4" further than the built-in AT connectors.
