I just a Wangtak 150 meg SCSI drive. Was able to use it together with the HardFrame controller in my 2000. But the only program that will work is the Tabu program on Fish disk #449 or something like that. It is working great with file backup but haven't tried to restore the image backup. Anyway, I had little or no success using any other programs. First of all, the commodore Hdbackup or the Bru program that comes with WB2.0. I was able to backup some files. But when I want to restore them, I always get the 'ODD error for file' or something. It seems a bit 'odd' that such error occure. Does anybody know what is this? Anybody has any ideas WHY this is happening? I have used the original configuration for the rewindable tape config. And for the BTNTape, I was able to issue raw command and backup. But I had no luck of restoring the files. And the format command doesn't work only the erase command does. What is the difference? Can anybody give me a sample of the mountlist that they use? I am kind of confuse with the commands for Startup. Last question. Has anybody tried the commercial programs that suppose to support TAPE drives, ie. Flashback and Amiback? I tried the Demo version of these two programs but something seems to be missing, like mounting the tape drive. They are on Fish #447 or something close. Thanx for the time. AmiBack doesn't require mounting the tape drive. It uses SCSI direct commands. Image copies are not supported. The programmer didn't think image copies were a good idea and didn't put it in. If the demand is there, it could be added. The demo version on the Fish disk is an early one, before tape drives were fully supported. See the ad for Ami-Back in Amazing Computing and .Info for more information.
