I have a hurricane 030/882 @ 33mhz... first of all i was wondering if i could rip those chips out and put in a 50mhz 030/882 and clock? Can the hurricane handle this?? Also it currently has 4megs on board.... i thought i remember reading that if u rip these chips out and put in 1x4s or whatever you can get 16 megs on board.... true??

Probably NOT. The PALS required for a 50mhz circuit need to be much faster than ones for a 33mhz circuit. It probably wouldn't work for the same reason you can't just take the 28mhz clock out of the Amiga and slam in a 50mhz one.. the supporting circuitry can't handle it, and lots of specific timing is based on the freq. >Also it currently has 4megs on board.... i thought i remember reading >that if u rip these chips out and put in 1x4s or whatever you can get >16 megs on board.... true?? Well, the board won't just know bout it. You will more than likely need to set some jumper switches and such to get it to realize that there are denser chips in the slots. Your owners manual is probably the best place to look, or just call them. -- Michael M Morrison /| |\ mmm@reaper.chi.il.us <or> | | Cash, for Cache.. | | reaper!mmm@miroc.chi.il.us \| Hmm.. sounds fair. |/
