[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] GIF/JPG compression tech

jones@plains.NoDak.edu (Scott Jones ) (05/01/91)

Hello,

Am looking for anyone knowing anything about the new compression technique
known as JPG for compressing GIF files on MS-DOS machines.

Is there a convert program for the Amiga that works with this format?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    There's a JPEG - it's entirely different from GIF, and there's some
group working on free converters etc attached to the comp.graphics
    newsgroup.

If you refer to the JPEG compression standard, you can have a full
description in April 1991, Communication of the ACM, Volumen 34, Number 4.

I doubt that any software supports this on the Amiga platform yet. But
it shouldn't be long. Followup redirected to comp.sys.amiga.graphics.

   Daniel.
