I have a question concerning the use of an Amiga 500 with the A690 CD-ROM drive to run CDTV software. It would seem to me that there will be a few important differences between the CDTV and an Amiga with a Commodore CD-ROM drive. Some of the features of the CDTV that may not be found on an Amiga with a CD-ROM drive include the MIDI ports and the extra 256K of ROM that, in the CDTV, is used to control the CD-Audio & CD+G functions, and other unique features of the CDTV. Another feature that is found on the CDTV which may not be found on an Amiga/CD-ROM system is the 2K of non-volatile memory used on the CDTV for "bookmark memory". How well will an Amiga/CD-ROM system run CDTV software without the MIDI ports, extra 256K of ROM, or the 2K non-volatile bookmark memory? If these features are not included, I don't see how such an Amiga/CD-ROM system could be completely compatible with the CDTV. ------------------------------------------------------------- / Marc Barrett -MB- | BITNET: XGR39@ISUVAX.BITNET / / ISU COM S Student | Internet: XGR39@CCVAX.IASTATE.EDU / ------------------------------------------------------------ \ Wanted for foreign language courses at Iowa State: One \ \ Babel Fish.
