[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Need help to use a Chinon FZ354 drive as an external drive.

I need some advice from peoples who are using a Chinon FZ 354 drive as an
amiga drive. I want to add one as an external drive to my A500. I tried to
replace my internal drive by the Chinon, and it worked, but without disk change.
I think I have to configure the driver's jumpers properly. What is the correct
configuration? The jumpers I found on the back of the drive are:

   DS2... ....DS3
        . . ....MD
        . . . ....RDY
        . . . .
       o-o-o o-o o o
             ! ! !...TTL/CMOS
       o-o-o o o-o o
        . . . .
        . . . ...DC
        . . ....MM
   DS1... ....DS0

The default configuration who came in the drive are DS1,MM,DC,TTL.
If someone could give me an explanation about each one, I would be very
 happy.

Try changing the jumper from DC to RDY. On the IBM-compatible Toshiba drives
I have, the DISKCHANGE signal is jumper-selectable to appear on the RDY
signal line instead of its usual place (on pin 11, I think.) It appears
that changing the jumper might move the RDY and DISKCHANGE signals back to
where the Amiga expects them.

First of all: I would like to thanks John H. Lee <johnhlee@cs.cornell.edu> and
Hal <hgm@ccvr1.cc.ncsu.edu> who sent me instruction on how to do this drive
work properly, including disk change.

Second: If you are not one of the guys above, but sent me a mail, well, I
think my host lost it. We had a disk crash this weekend and all mails
received from last friday to this monday morning was lost...

I still have some problems: I want to use that drive as an external one, but
until now, it work only when I replace it by the internal. Looking on the
drives pinouts on the docs, I found a little difference between the internal
and external connectors: the external has a line called IORESET. Where have I
to link this line in the drive (pin number)? In addition to this, is there any
other thing to do? A friend of mine (who is trying to use a identical drive)
said me maybe we need a little interface (?) to connect this drive as an
external. A flip-flop or something. Is it true?
My system is an A500 1M rev.5. The drive is an Chinon FZ 354.
