[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Null-Modem?

<JBK4@psuvm.psu.edu> (05/06/91)

Could someone E-mail me instructions for building a null-modem to transfer file
s between an Amiga 3000 and a C64?  Also, once I have made the null-modem how d
o I go about transfering files? Thanks in advance.

Using two DB25 Female Connectors :-

Pin 2 -> 3
    3 -> 2
    7 -> 7

Then run a terminal program on each computer to transfer the file,
select send on one and receive on the other, making sure they are
set to the same baud rate.

re: Null Modem connection

WARNING: I know nothing about a C64!

Usually, a null modem cable looks like this:

1 ------------- 1
2 ----|   |---- 2
      |   |
      |---+---- 3
          |
3 --------+

4 --+
    |
5 --+        +- 4
             |
             +- 5

6 -+
   |
8 -+----------- 20

             +-6
             |
20 ----------+-8

(*Whew! That was a nightmare to type!)

	That should be:

 4 ----|   |---- 4
       |   |
       |---+---- 5
           |
 5 --------+

	If you're using a hardware handshake, the diagram you did would always
say 'Go ahead and send'... :-)
