[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Ethernet

Weston.Fryatt@bbs.acs.unc.edu (Weston Fryatt) (05/20/91)

This probley been posted before.. But here it goes...

I'm interested in Networking 3 Amigas togeter.. The Ethernet card
(A2065) that Commodore has sounds like the best bet?!?!? But I'm really
a beginner when it comes to Networking.. So my question is:

What to I need to get started?? Do I need the AS225 Software for
to network the Amigas or what software do I need to drive the Ethernet
cards? (This Network would ONLY have Amiga connected to it)
What type of cable is used, and where can I get it from?

The reason that I'm so interested in getting the Ethernet cards is
that I'm a Software Developer.. And when you are working on a BIG project
with 3 people all modifing the same code.. Its really hard to combind it
all.. Now if we can get the Ethernet to work.. Then we could just modify
the code on one system instead of 3..
The other reason that Ethernet looks so nice to me.. Is the 10 MBit
speeds that ethernet uses..

PS. The three system that would be in the network would be 2 A2000's
and a A3000.. All of these system have Hard Drives.. And atleast
5 Megs RAM.. And all system are running 2.0 (2.0x) .. I'm using PARNET
at the monent.. Which is OK.. Its atleast a bit faster than a floppy
drive ;->
