[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Debugging a failing 2500/30

FINEBERG@WUMS2.WUSTL.EDU (Charlie Fineberg) (05/27/91)

Hi all,
and my apologies to those of you who will see this question both on
cs.amiga.hardware and i-amiga.
  I have a Rev 4.2 2000 with a 2630 with 4M of ram. Right now I'm running
without a hard disk (a long story which is of no concern except that it
can't be the problem) and two internal floppies. I haven't gotten a 1M
Agnes either. Anyway I was in the midst of play Lords of the Rising Sun
when suddenly the normally lightening screen updates (aren't ram disks
wonderful?) started slowing down, as did response to mouse movements.
finally the machine would no longer respond but I had a full screen of
graphics left on the screen. I tried Ctrl L-Amiga R-Amiga and nothing
happened. So I power cycled.
I got this sequence that time and on all tests since"
short pause
3 quick blinks of the power LED (normal speed with the 2630 installed)
Dark grey screen
Light grey screen
nothing.
Still nothing.
Very annoyingly still nothing.
Now as near as I can tell this means that the system software isn't
loaded correctly or something like that. What do I do? My system is so
far out of warranty that I want to try something before I just have my
dealer swap the whole mother board out. I was hoping to wait for a 3000T
with unix before I upgraded so any help will be appreciated.
	Charlie
