[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Archive Tape Drive problem

dsg@cci632.cci.com (David Greenberg) (05/28/91)

I recently aquired an Archive 80 mb tape unit from a friend
(he also has a cipher he is going to let me play with) but the
Archive does not seem to work with my C.Ltd Kronos controller. He
made me the correct cable, so my hard drive (80 mb seagate) is in the
middle of the bus (no termination packs) and the tape drive at at the end.
I plug the scsi cable into the tape drive and power up, and the light
on the tape drive comes on and stays on...and my hard drive will not
boot. If I power off the tape drive, the machine boots. I can then
turn on the tape drive (light still stays on) then if I try
to access my harddrve, I get a read error. I do not know which jumper
setting is correct for the tape drive (drive select) the Hard Drive is
Unit 0, and I don't know what the drive is....
I think the problem is that my controller is not set up properly,
the documentation is very schetchy and I'm not sure Which unit the tape drive
is! (Yes I'm pretty lost!)
Also I'm having trouble setting up BTN tape handler....

	Can anyone help????
