[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Information on Amiga 500 serial port expansion wanted...

bad1679@ritvax.isc.rit.edu (06/01/91)

I would like to know if any of you have upgraded the number of serial
ports on your Amigas. I find just one serial port not to be enough, since
I need to run a landline modem as well as a radio (TCPIP) modem at the
same time.

I have heard that there are mods out there that increase the number
of serial ports from one up to seven. Have any of you done this modification?
Could you please email me who you bought the necessary parts from and tell me
if you have had any problems accessing any of the seven serial ports at the
 same time?

Ultimately, I'd like to be able to run the 2400 baud landline modem on one
port, the 1200 baud radio modem in the other and an external terminal in a
OAthird serial port (for use with aux-handler). Would I be able to do
these three at the same time after the modification?

Any information about increasing the number of serial ports is greatly
appreciated. I would appreciate it if you could PLEASE reply via email
as I don't have the time to read Usenet all day.
Thanks...
