 How well does the GVP II work with the Bernoulli? Does it treat the 
Bernoulli as a 20 meg floppy? Can you power up the system with no
Bernoulli and then say do a DIR FRED: where FRED: is a bernoulli 
cartridge. When you put the FRED: cartridge in it should then give you
a directory of the cartridge without clicking retry (just like a floppy).

Not quite. If it did, then the driver would have to mount
the DOS device even if no cartridge (or one without an RDB)
is inserted (much like the DF[0-3], for example). Prior to
Kickstart 2.0, this wouldn't make a lot of sense for a hard
disk, since only the old filesystem is available in ROM.

Yes, provided you manually create a MountList entry for this
"default" Bernoulli partition and then Mount it in the
Startup-Sequence of your boot partition.
