Thanks a lot to all who responded to my SCSI tape drive / Kronos problems... I got excellent help from all....Here is a quick summary in case someone is interrested: BTN tape handler in itself is an Amiga DOS handler which speaks SCSI-Direct Protocol. The Kronos controller (SCSIDOS 3.0 - Which is old, current version is 3.1) does not support SCSI-direct entirly...thus the Machine Gurus when using CLtd.device in the BTN startup string. For SCSI_ DOS 3.1 information (and AMAX compatability) call Rick Estes at Microdyn 316-265-2661 (thanks to the poster who first put this info up) Anyway, For some strange reason, the Archive Tape drive still freezes the SCSI bus when my SEAGATE 296N is powered up and connected (everything is properly terminated) So I decided to buy a hardframe 2000 (BTN definately works with this controller) I let everyone know what happens tommorrow....It is my intention (Since Kronos does not use RDB (Ridgid Disk Block) while the HardFrame does) to install both cards into the 2000, hook the Archive to the HardFrame, Mount the tape drive, backup the Seagate (connected to the Kronos Controller) to tape (connected to the HardFrame) Remove the Kronos, Hook the Seagate and Archive to the Hardframe, Re-format the Seagate, and restore from the tape. (Of course I will try to read the Seagate with the HardFrame first, just incase it does happen to work), and finally...(if all goes well) SELL THE KRONOS!...(Anyone interrested in a cheep SCSI controller?) It really isn't bad at all... Thanks again, Dave
