I have just recently purchased a Commodore A2232 multi-port serial board, and have not been able to get it to operate. Any help would be appreciated. The basic problem seems to be that the 'OpenDevice' call hangs. This is true for the supplied test program, the supplied terminal program, other terminal programs, and for a specific test program that a friend wrote. The call simply does not return. The steps I took were as follows: - run install program - hung trying to run the test program - manually do the install - ran the supplied 'AmigaTerm' program - it did the 'loading settings' phase, and then hung - would not respond to keyboard or menus. - tried the PD 'VT100' program - it hung the same way - went back to old 'serial.device' and rebooted - both terminal programs worked fine on the built-in port. - tried reseating the board, tried a different slot - no effect - tried fiddling the default port with Preferences - no effect - a friend provided a little test program, and it showed that it was the 'OpenDevice' call that is hanging. I have heard rumors that there has been a new device driver for this board. Is this true? If so, where can I get it. (This particular one appears to have been in the store for a LONG time.) Thanks for any help. Please mail any help to 'thierman@namao.ucs.ualberta.ca'.
