I'd like to add that GVP's new SCSI host on their 33mhz accelerator is also a disappointment. (As someone else in the room yells "Junk!") Its got the easiest prep software available which is nice, but its performance (can I say it? yes.. Ok) sucks! Its supposed to be sicko high-end because its DMA direct to the accelerator's 32bit ram, But my microbotics hardframe leaves it in the dust even though it has to go through the 16bit bus. Numbers?, yes I better give them or some of those people who spend their whole life writing frame email to get their jollies will swamp my account. Ok.. I used the same hd partion to get these figures. Diskspeed3.1 ^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hardframe 37 create GVP 35 create 45 open/close Host 42 open/close 410 scan SCSI 60 scan (did gvp go to 445 delete 90 delete sleep here?) 256k buffer 1,453,621 read 1,012,340 read (~450k slower) 1,214,640 write 954,581 write (~250k slower) Now some of the "lamer flamers" out their will say "But its still faster than a floppy". I say who cares? The performance sucks! I do like the accelerator tho. Its too bad Commodore doesn't make a 33mhz 030 card that will hold 16meg on the card.. :-( If they did, I'd rather have purchased theirs over GVP's. So to sum it up, GVP's host scsi is pretty lame compared to the hardframe 2000. -Tom Nezwek PS: for those scratching their heads because they can't get figures this high... I'm using Maxtor's new 340meg 3.5" scsi drive.
