the smg's (and all other maggies) DO image and quite well. the
sweet spot is small though. but the sound is large. the right
electronics are required and a break-in time of at least a month
(ie play em at a low level 24 hours a day for a month.) some
loud tunes will help to stretch the bass panels which take a bit
longer to settle. the maggies need space around them. at least
3 ft on all sides. in placing them don't be afraid to try a
wide separation with flat stance toward your listening position
as opposed to toed in. i also recommend re-wiring with some
cardas cable after they have boken in. the difference in
clarity doubles their value. they don't play too loud with
source material containing lots of bass. if you do not play too
loud as a matter of course you might consider bypassing the
fuse.

i have mg2c's which i have modified. i removed all the plated
speaker connectors and rewired with cardas cable and removed the
bi-amping capability. i take the cable out and connct to my
custom speaker cable with a pressure connection. the
improvement in soundstage, imaging and instrumental timbre is
astounding. i also removed my fuse. i play a fairly loud
volumes especially for rock and have not had any problems with
my tweeters. i use a large belles 450 amp. i find that maggies
need lots of current and a clean signal coming in.

maggies take quite awhile to lace properly but the effort is
well rewarded in listening pleasure.
