I checked last night through my roommate's Stereophile collection, and in the September of 1989 issue, in with the reports from whatever CES was going on was a bit on a B&W contest to come up with new designs for stereos. Pirate Design associates submitted the Emphasis speakers and an equally wild looking pair of amplifiers. They were even on display in some British museum for the month. Basically, they were the audio equivalent of those great-looking car prototypes--little if any hope of seeing them in the market the near side of the century... Matt
