Thought I'd summarize the responses that were E-Mailed directly to me. My question regarding surround sound concerned how much difference a surround sound processor made to AUDIO-only, rather than Laserdisc-based systems. I was interested in audio-only, but could not discern much difference upon auditioning the systems, unless I listened to a video (laserdisc) source. The responses I got suggested not using the Dolby Pro-Logic feature for audio sources, because it was designed for video. Instead, I should try the audition using some of the different "surround sound" formats programmed into the processor. I was told these surround sound options can make a dramatic improvement to audio. I had auditioned the Yamaha DSP series. Respondents mentioned that series by a wide margin as being one of the better ones on the market. Thanks to all who responded. I will re-audition the DSP series without using Pro-Logic.
