[rec.audio.high-end] Shankar's series on woofers

Hello,

Many thanks to Shankar Bhattacharyya for contributing on the
design of woofers with a formative series of articles.

I went to a local audio fair and bought me a book on loudspeaker
design and a program.
The program comes with an archive of 400 woofer parameters that
comes with it.
I do not include a reference because book and program are in
Italian!

Of course, the first thing I did was an alignement of the Dynau-
dios. The numbers I had were almost the same as Shankar's.

I typed in the numbers for the AC 12 and again the alignement was
fairly the same, good job!

On the minus side, I do not know how to interpret

        term  =    - 2 + 1/(Qtc *8 2)      [from #3]

There seems to be a missing operator between the 8 and the 2.
Please, what is the right spelling of that formula?

One more issue: my speakers are Metronome 7 in their PLC audio
incarnation (they have been made under different brands).
Good speakers, but they badly need a woofer!

The problem is how can I make sure the woofer(s) do blend well with my
speakers? Should I match efficiencies?

One solution is to have a very clever active cross over and bi-amp.
Of course, I would spend less with a passive cross over but am afraid
to be in real trouble if I can't match everything well.
Advice on this and cross over design would be very helpful!
Thanks everybody.
