I'm in the market for a power amplifier for under $1500. I want it to be at least moderately powerful. Intended possibly for speakers along the lines of the Vandersteen 1b's ( which I find to be remarkable speakers). I'll be using CD as the source if that effects the decision. I've seen products by BK, Sonograph (made by Conrad Johnson), Onyx, Adcom, Carver (yes, I know these last two aren't too well respected), and NAD. My question then is, which amps are good? What other companies fall in that price range. I want a very detailed and precise image. I haven't been able to listen to all these amps, so I was hoping to get some opinions of more experienced listenrs. Also, in what price range does Bryston fall? How do they sound? BTW: I was quite impressed with the small 20W Onyx.

In article <6687@uwm.edu> you write: >I'm in the market for a power amplifier for under $1500. A _must_ listen is the Kinergetics KBA-75 for $1495. Very musical, an outstanding amp. Can be used for bi-wiring. It runs fully Class A, so it doubles as a room heater. -- Roger Knopf <standard disclaimer applies> SCO Consulting Services "If your controller will talk to a uunet!sco!rogerk or rogerk@sco.com cow pie, we can store data on your 408-425-7222 (voice) 408-458-4227 (fax) cow pie." --Scott Deardorff
