[rec.audio.high-end] Mastering Cassette Deck Wanted

rgaetz@hydra.unm.edu (Robert Gaetz) (10/29/90)

	Hello:

I've recently found myself in the market for a cassette deck whos
primary function will be producing demo tapes. I like the Nakamichi CR-3, but
have heard some unsetteling comments about it. Essentially, they say that
a tape made on a Nak will only sound good on a Nak, and after reading the
poop sheet on it, there would seem to be some support to that comment. They
appear to use a better head arrangement along with a higher(?) bias frequency
to get better overall responce. I don't see how the bias frequency would make
a difference since it only really matters durring the recording process, but
if they use a different "fluxivity" on the tape, that might make a difference.
(Maybe)
I still think I like Nak, but would appreciate any comments on the
subject. Also, if anyone out there has suggestions for other decks to
consider (Less than $700, preferably around $300) I'd love to hear from you.

	Thanks in advance...
