Last year while auditioning turntables I heard a set of speakers (at the Listening Room in Baltimore) that I liked very much. The bass was very tight, unlike my Polk's and the overall sound was very clear. I probably would have wound up buying them instead the turntable I was auditioning if I hadn't run across a used Nakamichi ZX7 at a steal of a price. My question is, does anybody know anything about them, their reputation, relative merits, and the like. The pair I listened to was a bookshelf pair (not really) that costs around $700. This is what I could most likely afford the next time I purchase speakers. I've listened to many speakers in the $500-1000 range and these blow everything else away. Are there any other brands I should definitely hear before purchasing these. My setup right now includes a Luxman receiver, Sony ES CD player, the above-mentioned Nak, and a turntable too cheap to mention (it will probably be replaced by a Thorens someday, unless anyone has opinions on that). I was going to replace the receiver first with Adcom separates but decided the weakest link right now are the speakers. Any opinions on any of the above comments would help. I've never heard of the Seifert speakers. But, I can recommend another pair to listen to. The J. S. Engineering .6's are very nice for their price. I believe they list for around $700 now. They were the best I heard in the price range. I auditioned alot of different speakers (polks, Boston Acoutics, Mirage, Phase Tech, MB quarts etc.) If you can find these you may want to give them a listen. I would also be interested in anyone elses opinion of the J.S.E.'s. Has anyone else out there heard them?
