[rec.audio.high-end] Amp to drive Quad ESL63

jf@computer-lab.cambridge.ac.uk (Jon Fairbairn) (11/07/90)

I'm planning to try out some Celestion SL6000 subwoofers with my ESL 63s.
This means bi-amping. I've got a Quad 606, so I'll use that for the bottom
end, so the question is, what amp should I use for the top end? I'm looking
for something towards the bottom of high end (on account of the depth of my
pocket). The ESL63s are a fairly easy load to drive, and should be even
easier when not having to deal with the low frequencies (where their
impedance goes level dependent). The room is about 7.4x3.5m, but I'd prefer
not to have to change if I moved the kit somewhere bigger.

I don't know much about amps, beyond the fact that the figures in the product
descriptions don't give much useful information. What I'm after is
accuracy. Anyone out there have any suggestions?
