Howdy all, I'd like some advice and comments regarding the possible purchase of a used turntable. An acquaintance has a Well Tempered table and arm for sale for $750. Its about 4 years old and dates from the time they only made one model (its name escapes me). I've listened to the table and like the sound, it seems to offer a clear improvement over my Ariston RD80 with a Denon 307 arm and dynavector 23rsms (ruby). However I'd appreciate any comments from anyone familiar with the Well Tempered especially in terms of cartridges that mate particularly well as well as the asking price etc. Something always seems to complicate matters- while pondering the above table I learned of a Linn LP12 with Ekos arm for sale by a dealer for the asking price of $1900 (thats likely negotiable somewhat). I'm unfamiliar with Linns in general and have no particulars on this specific table so again any comments from anyone who cares to share them will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any comments. If I get some e-mail on this I'll post a summary along with my listening impressions if I get to make any comparisons. Steve Graber work: (804) 924-9976 UVa Dept.
