[rec.audio.high-end] Demise of Vacuum Tube Audio

slinger@NADC.NADC.NAVY.MIL (J. Slinger) (11/21/90)

Vacuum Tube Audio is going out of business the end of this year. The had a
write up in 'Glass Audio' on their modification vs four others for the
Dynaco ST-70. One of the other four is now out of business too. I guess the
business of making mods for amp companies that went out of business is sort
of a guarantee dead end. Anyway the write up was good, for the price the VTA
mod seemed the best deal, even tho I was warned by GA that the write up was
done by a fellow who later turned out to be the president of VTA. Sounds like
something Carver would do. Anyway, I bought the mod, and it worked as well as
I could expect. Sonically, more neutral, better bass, better clarity, blah
blah blah. Just as the artical said. Now that VTA is going out of business
you may purchase this mod for the ST-70 or MK3 at $125, a $50 saving. I thought
it was worth it before, now it is a definate good deal. If you are interested,
I would suspect now is the time to act (I think I'm even sounding like Bob C.
myself). Phone 714-991-2463 or write Vacuum Tube Audio

I remember them saying that they were coming up with a mod for the PAS...
well, I guess that idea's toast.
