I've been meaning to write The Absolute Sound about this (with their dedicated coverage of "vintage" records), but never have. Does anyone have any opinions of the Stanton cartridges (say the 881S I think it is, which I have)? This cartridge comes with a stereo stylus, but styli can also be purchased separately for mono and 78-rpm recordings (I have all three styli). I bought it because a) I happened to always have Stanton cartridges on the turntable I bought it for, and b) I was going to get a Shure V-15, but the audio store I did business with was out of them at the time. So I thought I'd be happy with another Stanton, and I am. I never compared it to a Shure on this turntable though. I do have a number of mono and 78-rpm records. --Paul
