Hi folks, I bought a CD player marked Shure P6000. It is not new and not particularly high end (it is a 2X 16 bit and has a couple of PCM56P-J inside) but did not sound worse than a Sony 228 and was within my reach, economically. I plan to upgrade the DACs selection to K or L which is the one that IMO can be called Hi-Fi: the specs say less than 1% THD @ -40dB (if memory serves, anyway a level which is rather likely to be populated by a lot of classical and jazz music :-) ) while unselected DACs have good noise specs at 0 dB i.e. when the walls come tumbling down, tumbling down.. Now to the point: that P6000 has a connector marked sub-code out: what was it for? what can you do with it? A repairman said I could use that socket to read data from a PC which might be interesting but I do not know how. Could I use that to make a digital output? Thanks for your help!
