[rec.audio.high-end] Quicksilvers with Tip Toes

hi,
        i own a pair of quicksilver monos (used in conjunction with
Spica TC50s).  when i placed tip toes under the amp chassis, the sound
became very grainy and hashy.  does anyone have any explanation for this?
am i doing something wrong?  is there a right way to do this?
