I am looking at Nakamichi cassette tape decks (analog) and was wondering about the new line change they have done this year. The new pieces are a 3 head deck numbered 1 at $800 and a 2 head deck numbered 2 at $400. The 1 sounds a lot better than the 2 to me. Meanwhile there are still some 3 head 3a's out there from previously, priced at $600. They seem to sound about the same as the new 1's, and the specs are nearly identical with the one nit that total harmonic distortion is not quite as good... unfortunately I have not been able to listen to them in a really good listening environment to compare between them. Anybody have any information out there regarding the differences between the 3a and the new 1? Is it really primarily cosmetics or should I be listening more closely?? Has anybody seen any reviews of these decks? Thanks in advance for the help! Brian
