I am preparing to dub some analog LP's to tape, and have the option of using a regular high-bias tape, or a metal-particle formulation. Does the latter present a higher risk of picking up surface noise and other extraneous sounds, or is the worst-case outcome simply that not all of the tape's capacity for fidelity of reproduction will be utilized?
