Dynaco ST-70 modifications... Having seen that Dynaco is back in business and selling the venerable ST-70 for $995 I am again thinking about modifing my Dyna. The ad for the "new" model states that among other things it has four times the filter capacitance of the vintage models. Is this an easy modification to do on an old amp? If so what are the details? My other thought is the new ST70 PC Board & Tubes advertived by Sound Values/SSC. This replacement board replaces the 7199 driver tubes with a cheaper ($7) 6GH8A tube. They claim it is of more consistent quality and reduces distortion, hum, and noise. The new circuit is supposedly approved by Frank VanAlstine. Does anyone out there have this new board/tube combo??? I'm not too familiar with the VanAlstine mods so advice on those would also be welcome. Thank you in advance to all. Michael J.
