[sci.virtual-worlds] VR tutorial

balaguer@disuns2.epfl.ch (Jean-Francis Balaguer) (12/19/90)

Hello, I have to do a 9 hours course on Virtual Realities here at EPFL
in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Themes are,

    - What is Virtual Reality and what it is useful for.
    - 3D Devices
    - Stereo Displays
    - 3D Interaction Techniques for controlling the Virtual Camera and
      Objects.
    - Stereopsis projections and programming.

I am looking for other types of devices than Polhemus, DataGlove, and Spaceball
that we have at the lab.
For every devices, I would like to receive a drawing or photograph and a short
explanation on how to use it and what you use it for.

I am looking for pointers for stereopsis programming and also some additional
information on Stereo Display (glasses, HeadMounted Display ..)

Finally, every of you who run VR applications in their lab and their industry
could if they want, send a Video in Pal/Ntsc to me demonstrating their
application. Some short documentation could be added.

Some discussions on field of use of VR applications nowadays and the future
would be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance, please e-mail don't post.

Frank.
