HITL SUMMER INTERN POSITIONS, 1991 The Human Interface Technology Laboratory at the University of Washington will conduct its second Summer Intern Program from June 1991 through September 1991. We have several Summer Intern positions available. Preference will be given to people * with an intense desire to build virtual reality systems * with a broad range of established skills * with a history of productivity * with an interest in attending graduate school at UW The focus of this year's Summer Program will be on building hardware and software tools for virtual environments. Potential projects include * design, construction, and integration of behavior transducers and interface devices * design and implementation of software for coordinating virtual worlds * implementation of virtual world interaction tools, including the Wand and the Virtual Body * design and construction of virtual worlds * implementation of algorithms for experiential mathematics * design of physiological and cognitive measurements of load, tranfer, and presence. We have two types of position available, differing only in the extent of economic support. In either case, HITL will not be able to provide support for transportation to and from Seattle. * No stipend positions: HITL provides training, experience, and resources for VR projects. * Stipend positions: HITL provides a small stipend (approximately $1000/month) to cover living expenses.
