[sci.virtual-worlds] help

Hello everybody. This is my first time posting on news, so please
forgive any mistakes I make in the next couple minutes.

I'm planning on spending the summer here at Swarthmore College
(located near Philadelphia) building a helmet-mounted V.R.
machine. I am still in the process of trying to find 1)funding and
2)equipment for this project, however. Would anybody have any
ideas on sources of funding that an undergraduate interested in
pursuing an independent research project like this could apply
for? Also, are there any really good books/periodicals/etc out that
cover more than just the basic concepts of V.R.? (by basic
concepts, I mean those found in a Discover or Omni article on
V.R.) Also, if anybody is interested in getting their two cents
in on what the best way to build a v.r. device is, or wants to
know more about what I'm planning on doing, please send me a vax
note. I'm not sure what address is going to appear on the header
of this message, but the address I usually use is
"MAT92@campus.swarthmore.edu" or, on bitnet, "MAT92@swarthmr.bitnet".
