[sci.virtual-worlds] U.S. Senate Hearing on VR, Video Coverage

rlm@Hudson.Stanford.EDU (Robert L. Miller) (05/05/91)

On Friday I spoke with the subcommittee's press secretary. He stated
there were no coverage plans by any media organizations as yet, and
that my documentary crew was welcome to cover the event.

My crew and I can provide excellent coverage of this hearing and can
make the tapes available to the readership here. But in order to make
this happen, we need a modest amount of funding to get there with our
gear. Our funds are currently low from our 20-hour coverage of the
2nd Annual Cyberspace Conference in Santa Cruz, and we have yet to
film the SRI conference.

So the reality is...donations are needed to cover this event.

Bob, if you would like to coordinate donations, and a sufficient
amount is raised (about 3 to 5K, a real Motel 6 budget) we will cover
the event, release the tapes at cost, and account for our expenses.

This has to happen quick. I hate to see something like this just
evaporate.

[MODERATOR'S NOTE: I'm in no position to coordinate donations, least of
all this week, but if anyone wants to be this project's angel or has a
friend who might, please do get in touch with Robert immediately. Thanks.

As yet C-SPAN has no plans to cover the hearing. I suggest
tribal phone calls to C-SPAN to convey widespread viewing interest.
