(TORONTO) The chairman of the legislative committee examining auto insurance in Ontario has told New Democrat Peter Kormos that he will no longer recognize questions from him. The ruling by Liberal Harry Pelissero followed a shouting match that erupted this morning between Kormos and Liberal members of the committee. Yesterday, Pelissero had warned Kormos to stop using abusive language against witnesses and other committee members. This morning, after another outburst, Pelissero temporarily adjourned the committee. When the hearing resumed, he asked Kormos for assurances that it wouldn't happen again. He wasn't satisfied with Kormos' answer, and told the N-D-P auto insurance critic that he will no longer recognize questions from him. Kormos accuses Pelissero of censorship, and says an important issue is involved and he's not playing by the Marquis of Queensbury rules. However, when speaking to reporters, Kormos didn't rule out the possibility of giving Pelissero the committment he wants. walker/standard broadcast wire
