(OTTAWA) A human rights hearing into racism at the National
Research Council in Ottawa has been adjourned until April.
The hearing was suddenly suspended when the lawyer for the N-R-C
became ill. The council will now hire a new lawyer to defend two senior
scientists accused of racial discrimination.
The hearing into Doctor Chander Grover's charges of racism was
supposed to wind up today. Missing documents and witnesses saying they
were threatened or intimidated, however, threw everyone off schedule.
The lawyer became ill after days of being criticized by the
chairman of the tribunal for the way he was conducting his case.
