(VANCOUVER) A former Vancouver police constable is in serious but stable condition in hospital following a shooting at a bank in the city's east-end this morning. Police say 54-year-old Russell Reid...a member of the force from 1956-1965...was shot in the throat during a robbery attempt at a Bank of Commerce Branch. An escapee from the Drumheller Penitentiary in Alberta is in custody in connection with the incident. Forty-nine-year-old Peter Zivkovic is being held on charges of robbery and escape. Vancouver police say they're considering a number of other charges, although none have yet been laid. Another inmate, 45-year-old Richard Carter, is still at large.
