(ST. JOHN'S, Nfdl.) Liberal leadership contender Sheila Copps says the seal hunt off the coast of Newfoundland should be resumed. She says the seals are eating enormous amounts of fish, and the fish stocks must be preserved. The seal hunt was abandoned years ago after strong pressure from Europe. Copps says Ottawa has to tell the European countries the seals are causing the province's fishermen intense hardship. Copps made her remarks at a news conference in St. John's. She's presently on a campaign tour of Newfoundland.
