CHICAGO (UPI) -- Ameritech Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net
earnings of $331.7 million, or $1.22 a share, an increase of 7.1 percent
compared with $309.7 million, or $1.15 a share, in the final quarter of
1988.
Revenues for the quarter totaled $2.6 billion, compared with $2.5
billion in the year-ago quarter.
For the year, Ameritech reported net earnings of $1.238 billion, or
$4.59 a share, up less than 0.1 percent compared with $1.237 billion in
fiscal 1988 but still good enough to mark the company's sixth
consecutive year of earnings growth.
Ameritech is the parent of the Bell telephone operating companies
serving Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin, and other
information-related companies providing cellular communications,
directories, lease financing, voice messaging and audiotex services.
