CHICAGO (UPI) -- Ameritech Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $331.7 million, or $1.22 a share, an increase of 7.1 percent compared with $309.7 million, or $1.15 a share, in the final quarter of 1988. Revenues for the quarter totaled $2.6 billion, compared with $2.5 billion in the year-ago quarter. For the year, Ameritech reported net earnings of $1.238 billion, or $4.59 a share, up less than 0.1 percent compared with $1.237 billion in fiscal 1988 but still good enough to mark the company's sixth consecutive year of earnings growth. Ameritech is the parent of the Bell telephone operating companies serving Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin, and other information-related companies providing cellular communications, directories, lease financing, voice messaging and audiotex services.
