BOISE, Idaho (UPI) -- Morrison Knudsen Corp. said Thursday it has been awarded a contract in excess of $5 million from a division of Atlantic Richfield Co. to decommission a uranimum mill in New Mexico. The contract was awarded by ARCO Coal Co. for work at the Blue-water Uranimum Mill near Grants, N.M. The mill was in continuous operation from 1952 until 1982. Morrison Knudsen's scope of work encompasses the dismantlement, demolition and disposal of all buildings and facilities on the mill site. Work is to begin immediately, with completion scheduled for early 1991. Morrison Knudsen, headquarted in Boise, is one of the world's largest environmental contractors. It is executing similar contracts for the U.S. Energy Department at former mill sites throughout the country totaling more than $500 million in work.
