LONDON, ENGLAND, 1990 JAN 16 (NB) -- Stock prices fell in
London following the lead of the New York Stock exchange on
Friday.

The Financial Times Index closed down 13.9 points to close at
2,366.2. The index had fared worse on Friday, when it fell by
37.8 points, after 406 million shares changed hands. Thre hundred
sixty million more shares changed hands on Monday.

In Frankfurt, West Germany, the FTZ index closed down 14.05
points to steady at 1,841.61 for the day. The unrest in the Soviet
Union appears to be causing worries for West German investors who
are taking a cautious look at the situation.
