newsbytes@clarinet.com (01/18/90)

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, 1990 JAN 15 (NB) -- Gandalf Data has
licensed Digital Equipment's LAT network protocol for use with
its Starmaster network processor. As a result, DEC users will be
able to connect through a Starmaster to other network
environments.

Gandalf will offer a LAT option for the Starmaster processor this
month, at prices ranging from C$7,225 to C$18,050 in Canada, a
company spokeswoman said. The option will be available for
Starmaster processors supporting 16, 32, 48 or 64 connections.

The option will allow LAT users to connect to SNA, Novell and
TCP/IP networks over local-area and wide-area networks, according
to Gandalf.
